Ctenanthe oppenheimiana is a member of the Marantaceae or arrowroot family. Its common names are the Giant Bamburanta and Never Never Plant. They are also called the prayer-plant too. The plants fold up their leaves at night as if in prayer and leaves unfurl during the day. Giant Bamburanta’s attractive variegated foliage makes it a popular houseplant. These unique foliages are long, lanceolate, and have patterns of dark green with silver bands.

This bushy evergreen perennial plant is native to Brazil. It grows up to 3 feet tall and prefers warm, sheltered, shady, and humid conditions.
