String of Bananas ‘Purple Flush’ It has vibrant lilac vines and little fleshy green fronds coming off. It makes a nice change from the better-known String of Pearls. Each one comes with its own detachable hanger, so you can pop your Senecio overhead immediately or take the hanger off and let the tendrils trail down a shelf or mantelpiece. Although beautiful, it can be a little fussy when it comes to care.

String of Pearls plants are relatively fast growing so give them room to trail for green impact. Perfect for hanging baskets or cascading from shelves. A close relative of Senecio Herreianus – String of Beads. Senecio is native to South West Africa.

Light: Prefer bright light including direct sun, the more light the more purple it gets.
Temperature: Average household temperatures 16-24°C, but no lower than 10°C.
Water: Keeping compost moist in spring to autumn but allow compost to dry out between watering in winter..
Humidity: String of bananas are fine in house conditions if you live in a humid climate it would be best to water less.
Fertilizer: Once every two months or so during the growing seasons will be enough to keep your Senecio healthy and thriving.
Height & Growth Rate: Fast-growing and typically reaches an ultimate height and length of 1 metre.
Toxicity: Mildly toxic if eaten. Keep away from children & animals.
