Gaining their name during the colonisation of the New World the Ananas Corona Bromeliad or Pineapple Plant is one of the best known member of the Bromeliad family.

The ornamental pineapple is a smaller (inedible) version of the wild pineapple but makes a exotic and somewhat unusual addition to a bright and warm space.

Pineapple is the only bromeliad with an edible delicious sweet fruit. The bromeliad pineapple, which we highlight, is an ornamental crop with a smaller fruit. Pineapple Pacifico is a species with a redder fruit. This pineapple is not grown for consumption, so it is better not to taste it!

Watermelon Peperomia is a tropical evergreen herbaceous shrub that is erect and bushy, grows up to 20-30cm tall and can be used as a houseplant in temperate climates. It is named Watermelon Peperomia because its leaves resemble the rind of a watermelon. They tend to be small and look better in groupings of plants with similar cultural needs. The decorative, watermelon-striped, waxy leaves and cream-colored, spiked inflorescence add interest to this plant. Leaf attachment is a rare true peltate. This plant is used as a specimen or as a desktop plant.

This popular variety of Peperomia has stunning watermelon-esque foliage and blends seamlessly into any home decor. It is easy to care for and performs best in a well light room out of direct sunlight.

Despite its common name, sago palm (Cycas revoluta) isn't technically a true palm tree. These fairly low-growing plants with long green fronds are cycads, a group of ancient tropical and subtropical plants that usually grow from a trunk that doesn't branch out; it produces nuts but doesn't flower or fruit. Sago palms are native to warm parts of Japan and southern China.

In cooler climates, they're often grown as houseplants. When grown in the garden, plant them in the early spring or late fall. These plants are extremely slow-growing, gaining only a few inches annually, and may only produce one new frond each year. Its feather-like foliage grows out in a symmetrical ring. Generally, they grow larger when planted in the ground versus when they're in containers.

Perhaps one of the most elegant yet relatively muted designs on a Calathea is that of the Calathea majestica ‘White star’ (goeppertia majestica). This specimen is known to be a cultivar of the ornata species and sports several bright white stripes from the midrib of the plant extending to its leaf blades. Some of the leaves may feature pink shades near the midrib, depending on the light conditions and maturity of the plant.

Often mistaken for its relative species, the Calathea ornata or the Pinstripe Calathea, the White star plant has more stripes that almost fill the whole leaf. It also resembles the Vittata variety. Given proper care, this plant can reache an ultimate height of 1.5 meters in large pots and the leaves can become very long.

Guzmania plants are perennial plants in the bromeliad family. There are over 120 different guzmania plants and all of them are native to South America. These tropical beauties are known as epiphytic plants and attach to trees with roots that never reach the soil. Striking bracts grow from the center of the plant and can be red, yellow, orange, or deep purple depending on the species. Leaves are thin and dark green. They cause no injury to their host plant, but instead just use them for support. The leaves collect rainwater and the plant receives nourishment in its natural environment from decomposing leaves and droppings from monkeys and birds.

The name “peace lily” was called because the white flowers look like white flags of peace—though they aren’t actually lilies. Instead, they’re tropical perennials, when you practice good peace lily care, these plants can live for years and flower over and over again. The plant is ideal for home or office growing, they're easy to take care of, don’t require a lot of light, and do a wonderful job cleaning and purifying the air we breathe.

Peace lilies are tropical species and hybrid from the Spathiphyllum genus that are a favorite flowering houseplant. A striking plant when used in mass display, the peace lily blooms in spring with long-lasting flower stalks that hover gracefully over the foliage. The plant has glossy oval leaves with points that emerge from the soil. A well-grown peace lily may bloom twice a year, resulting in several months of flowers.
