The name of the plant (Eternal flame) actually comes from the flowers. The blooms are orange and yellow, which makes the plant look like a flame. Flowers grow on top of the stems, a bit higher than the leaves.

Eternal flame has a scientific name Calathea Crocata. It is known as very colourful tropical plant. This is a beautiful tropical plant that can thrive indoors if you provide the right conditions to it.

While this plant is native to tropical America and Brazil it is important to note that it’s hard to find it in the wild today. The environmental damage made these plants very rare in the wild so they are mostly found indoors.

Eternal flame plant is known as a humidity-loving plant, just like other Calathea plants. At the same time, it dislikes direct sunlight, so this is something you should keep in mind.

Light: Eternal Flame Plant can tolerant some shade, however brighter locations with plenty of indirect sunlight will help the Calathea thrive.
Temperature: This plant thrives in average household temperatures: anything above 18°C, and needs a minimum of 15°C in winter.
Water: Calathea must be kept in damp soil at all times. Water them regularly.
Humidity: Calathea Crocata prefer to be kept in medium to high humidity. Mist your Calathea regularly.
Fertilizer: Feed twice a month during growing season.
Height & Growth Rate: Calathea Crocata is a fast growing plant, reaching heights of around 1 metre.
